this summer evening
sees no stars
set into the night sky
perhaps an eagle took them
on silent wings to line her nest
this summer evening
or the man who cannot shut his eyes
buried them and now he
sees no stars
or rather than theft, is it the rippling
golden expanse of laughter
set into the night sky

Poetry challenge #33: Silent cascade
I believe the stars all fell from the sky when you sang Coco Cabana.

I love “the rippling
golden expanse of laughter
set into the night sky”
Thank you. That came from Jane’s picture. I set the poem at night and realized the painting had that yellow sky. Inspiration!
I love how inspiration works–it’s a lovely phrase.
Bloody brilliant.
Thanks!

I agree with Jane!
Will puzzle over this one for a while. Love the intense darkness and beauty in it.
Thanks! Those prompts yielded something pretty interesting.
