a big fat balloon
found at parties
sometimes red sometimes shiny
telegraphing messages about age
and achievement
taking a deep breath
makes you talk funny
for a while
which is as long as it lasts
until it deflates
floats away
brushes against something sharp
——
It doesn’t last long. Sharp objects that last longer usually pop it.
And that is why you better enjoy the trip into the air while it’s happening.
hold it tight and gentle. π
Then the string will cut you.
A great reminder for us to live the moment. π
I love the underlying wisdom in this π
Best enjoy it while we can.
I was hoping to see your balloon soar over the rainbow, but you popped my bubble π¦
That’s cause I’m so prickly.
I love your title, Crow. A balloon as a blank something, to be filled as we choose.
Thanks. I almost used a specific word but decided the fill of n the blank would be better.
Carpe Diem
Indeed!
up up away
Wait for the pop…
This truly is a “treatise on [fill in the blank]” as it could apply to many things. Not only the life cycle of a shiny red balloon, but also a statement about life, about the pursuit of dreams and love affairs (they certainly make you “talk funny for a time”), until they pop on something sharp…
Well done, Crow, well done! π
Thanks very much!
