candles flicker for obvious reasons
birthdays, farewells, power outs,
supplication to saints
checking that canary you
carried down into the coal mine
homemade bikini waxing
sealing someone’s fate with a signet
pressed into a blood red blob
but mostly the presence of ghosts

I love your list—especially Liberace.
I just remember that candelabra.
For me it was the pinkness.
360 on the last line. You are brilliant.
You’re very kind. Thank you.
Wry smile here. The surprise at the end draws the reader back through the poem. There is much pain in this poem 🙂
Thanks. I knew ghosts had to show up. A wry smile is the perfect response!
A very creative mind at play here! You had me at “supplications to saints”.
Wonderfully written and a great idea.
The first and last lines go well together and the part in the middle holds them there.
Thank you very much.
Ooh, an ominous ending there. Very fun list poem.
Thanks! I like a good list.
I specially like: sealing someone’s fate with a signet ~ Thanks Crow for joining us ~
