if you could find
a nail from the cross
what color would it be
stained red and
glistening yet
after all these years
or just a pile of rust
(still the right color)
but destroyed by the
slow burn of oxygen
and time
floating and leaving no trace
if you could find
a nail from the cross
what color would it be
stained red and
glistening yet
after all these years
or just a pile of rust
(still the right color)
but destroyed by the
slow burn of oxygen
and time

Beautiful
Thank you.
Haunting. Love this poem.
Thank you!
Great, thought provoking, image
Thank you very much.
It would be whole, preserve by an infusion of love, yet dulled by a patina of loss.
What Color Nail
by atrmws
It would be the color of light and of love
Envy of the green hills, appalled at our world and its ills
It would have pinned a hand, right through a glove
It would have held Him high above
And left within its woody bed, some hope
And warmth and heart instead
Mind bending. Loved it!
Thank you! I like bending minds. They’re so rubbery. And they taste like chicken.
Nom. Nom. 😀
