When I was a kid growing up in Japan, the marron (chestnut) pies were at the top…I miss those…
We used to shop at a Japanese market, but I don’t remember ever seeing those. I probably would have tried it. Although, for a while they had a man selling hot sweet potatoes, and another vendor (in the fall) selling hot chestnuts.
