my brain buzzes
a beehive
ruled by competing
overfed queens
i once read that bees
will surround an invader
–say a wasp or a hornet–
building a little sun around him
raising the temperature
of their abdomens
cooking the intruder alive
i wonder, does the wasp
pop like popcorn
burnt in a microwave
leaving a greasy tendril
of smoke
what has crawled into my head
i smell something
burning
This one is fantastic!!
Thank you very much!
Perfectly gruesome
It’s a bit buggy, I’ll admit.
That’s great!
Thank you!
Glad to see you posting regularly again. Missed your caw.
Gonna give it a go again for National Poetry Month. See if I can build up some momentum.
A worthy caws!
Our heads are full of such things–they jump out and surprise us even though we know they are there. (K)
Brains are remarkable when they don’t get in the way.
Bee careful!
I wouldn’t want to get stung.
Violently beautiful and thought-provoking. Especially if read through a zoomorphist lens (I’m just guessing that’s the antonym for anthromorphism….)
Anthropomorphism. Sorry. It’s late…
I knew what you meant!
