morning rain washes
air heaves with petrichor
and the scent of eucalyptus
thin crescent moon wanes overhead
masquerading as a wisp of cloud
today, two cars make u turns
in the middle of the street
what is not forbidden
is implicitly allowed
the sun, that smug bastard
burns through clouds
ruining this autumnal dream
but he draws my eye
like a pointed finger
against a brighter bank
rising up on shafts of light
or a pair of angels
falling in slow

“the sun, that smug bastard” 😂 great stuff, Crow. Your images are wonderful. I have to read it again. (Are you in Australia?)
No, usually sunny California. I’m glad for the rain, but I think it’s only happening since I have construction going on.
Murphy’s Law at play. It was the eucalyptus that made me think of Oz.
Oh, I forgot, *Googles “petrichor”
Nice word (tucking away for the future)
Thanks. It’s one of those that once you see it, you can’t forget it.
