sinking (20170210)

we swim in dark waters
under storm-black skies
the sound of waves
disguising the direction
of land

sightless
we grasp buoys and anchors
with our hands
unable to discern them
from one another

under the water
there is no sky
and you must sink
to stand again

this is the way
this is the way
this is the way
